Last November I had the pleasure to sew samples for B’wear’s December and January kits of the month. Today I will show you the bra made from the January kit called “Confetti” as this kit is still available.
The kit includes a beautiful non-stretch lace, lingerie satin in light pink, pink powernet, and all notions required for an underwire bra. The lace has only one scalloped edge, so the kit contains a right and left-side piece of lace. This allows you to sew mirrored bra cups.
I made a Maya bra (Afi atelier), my TNT bra pattern, and matching Vera panties (Studio costura). I always use the Vera panties pattern when I do have non-stretch lace. The white fabric I used for the back of the panties is not included in the kit.
Regarding the construction, there is not much to say. The only thing I changed for the bra was adding a seam in the center of the frame for the lace layer. This allowed me to cut two mirror images of the lace.
This was the first time that I sewed with lingerie satin. It took some time to get used to it because it is a very stable fabric and not malleable. The fit of the bra is great and very comfortable.
Disclaimer: I got the fabric for free to sew a sample. I was not asked to write a blog post or advertise in any manner. All opinions are my own.
