Winter Concert Ready: Knitting Black Fishtail Wristwarmers

I always wanted to remake the Fishtail Wristwarmers in black. As they are rather delicate, a black version would be perfect for wearing during concerts, especially when our orchestra plays in cold churches during winter. This year, I finally got around to buying Baby cool wool from LanaGrossa in black. I am not sure when I cast on the first stitches, but I finished just one week before our concert on November 30th. I vaguely remember that my original idea was to knit them during summer when the light is bright, because black is difficult to knit in the darker season: you just don’t see what you are doing. Alas, this did not happen. So I cursed and unraveled a lot during this knit, but the result was worth it, they kept my fingers warm while looking pretty and inconspicuous. For this pattern, blocking is essential. The wristwarmers looked quite knobbly while knitting, but this was completely gone after blocking and the lace pattern comes out beautifully.

I also need to replace my white version, they have some stains that can no longer be washed out and the yarn is becoming brittle. No wonder, they are nearly 10 years old. I already have the yarn, so this will be one of my next knitting projects.
