I needed new pyjamas as my old black one (here and here) was literally falling apart, at least the top. The fabric got threadbare and tore around the shoulders and the cuff edges. It was time to sew a new one. I used the same pattern as last time, i.e. the ITS Henley top and ITS Tierra woven joggers.
Fabric
Both fabrics are cotton jerseys with spandex. The floral one organic jersey with 95% cotton and 5% spandex, 210g/m2. I bought 1.5m from Nordliebe Stoffe. This is not a shop I usually buy from, but two years ago I got a gift voucher from my colleagues for this shop and this was one of the fabrics I chose, already with a pyjama in mind. Unfortunately, when I started cutting, I noticed that 1.5m was not enough. The fabric was no longer available at Nordliebe-Stoffe, but I found it in several other online shops and finally purchased an additional 1.5 from Tumultstoffe. The green jersey is from pepelinchen, 96% cotton, 4% spandex, 220g/m2. It was difficult to find online a matching green colored fabric, but this one got quite close.
I found some cute white buttons in the shape of a flower in my stash. I think they go well with the leaves motive of the main fabric.
Alterations
Compared to my last two pyjamas, I made the following changes:
- Omitted the waist curve in the top (I drew a straight line from the armhole to the bottom directly on the fabric)
- Omitted the cuffs on sleeves and legs (again, I directly lengthened the sleeves and legs on the fabric)
Next time, I think I should go up one size for the top. I have the feeling that it is a bit too small around the shoulders.
Construction
There is not much to say about the construction, as this is now the third time that I have made both patterns. I followed the instructions, which were very clear and detailed.
