Itch to Stitch Algarve Top

I participated in the latest pattern test from Itch to Stitch, the Algarve top. The pattern is described as: Simple yet stylish! The Algarve Top is a knit top you’ll love wearing over and over. Made for soft, drapey fabrics, the Algarve features lovely gathers below the front yoke. Wear it tucked in or out—it’s versatile. With an easy-to-sew integrated sleeve, it gives you a polished finish effortlessly. (quote from the website)

Fabric

I used a rayon knit jersey. Using a lightweight 4-way stretch knit is highly recommended to get pretty gathers. The fabric I used was some scraps left over from a Schneiderakademie-project. This top only needs under 1m of fabric in my size and is therefore great to use up smaller pieces of fabric.

Alterations

I made a size 4 without any alteration. This is the first test version, and for the final version the armscye was made slightly larger and some fabric removed from the front yoke to prevent gaping that occurred for some testers. I still have to try the final pattern.

Construction

The construction is easy and straightforward. Once the yoke is sewn and the gathered front added, the rest of the top is sewn quickly. The perfect project when you do not have much time.

Disclaimer: I got the pattern for free in exchange for testing it. I bought the fabric myself. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.
