Yellow striped socks and gloves

Last year I really enjoyed knitting the striped advent socks so I bought some more self-striping yarn from the same Etsy shop. I immediately fell in love with a yellow-white skein (not available anymore) and cast on a pair of socks.

The socks

I used again the instructions from the craftsy class “Socks – two at a time”, however this time I knitted from top down and one at a time. I think I used needle size 2.5, the size I usually use when knitting socks or gloves. I really need to make notes of the used needle size, as it often happens when I want to knit a pattern again, that I would really like to know which needle size I used the first time.

I also tried to start with the same color for the second sock to get the stripes even at both socks. This color really makes me happy.

Penny gloves

As I had a lot of yarn left, I decided to knit a pair of Penny gloves for myself. Last year I made two pairs as Chrsitmas gifts. I held the yarn together with Drops Kid Silk in white.

I guess that I used the recommended needle size 3 mm. I cast on 44 stitches as per instruction. I am not sure if I already knitted a whole glove, or only up until the thumb when I noticed that it was too big. So I started all over again with only 40 stitches. This turned out to be the right size. I already wore them a lot during the last two months.

I it always interesting to see how the fabric changes when you hold two different yarns together. The color of the gloves is more subtle and not so bright as in the socks. I love them both.
